As BATMACHINE enters its final phase, the  Team traveled to Trondheim, Norway, for our 6th General Assembly. Hosted by our partner SINTEF, it was occasion to align efforts and review milestones. Moreover, the Team had a firsthand look at the SINTEF testing facilities.

With the project set to conclude later this year in November, the partners are collaborating to ensure a strong finish for our mission to improve sustainable battery cell manufacturing in Europe.

Day1 of the General Assembly focused on partners’ updates on their respective Work Packages. Specifically, the discussions went around the final stages of the validation and trial activities. The machinery is now being tested in an industry scale, having already passed lab testing satisfactorily.

Additionally, Day1 featured a session with the BATMACHINE Advisory Board. Composed of experts with technical backgrounds across the European battery landscape, the Board has provided invaluable guidance since the beginning of the project. As this was one of the last AB meetings, the session focused on providing them with a high-level overview of our latest achievements and gathering final feedback to steer the consortium through the final laps. Finally, the Team invited the Advisory Board to join the BATMACHINE Final Event, later this year in November.

Visiting SINTEF Labs

Day2 shifted from the meeting room to the laboratory. Our host SINTEF guided the Team in a tour of their battery testing facilities. During the visit, the host guided the Team through the extensive laboratories, where every stage of the battery production process is put to the test, from slurry composition, to cell behavior and capabilities.

The General Assembly host provided a comprehensive overview of SINTEF’s assets, activities and expertise in manufacturing, research and innovation. Specifically in BATMACHINE, SINTEF is leading the work in the machinery digitalisation. Their focus is on the integration of Industry 4.0 and intelligent control processes. Nonetheless, they are also capable of state-of-the-art energy storage testing, which they provide as a service.

Looking ahead the 5th General Assembly

The 6th General Assembly in Trondheim was crucial to coordinate the Team’s efforts in the last laps of BATMACHINE. The meeting provided the exchange and fine-tuning needed to steer the direction of our activities. We kindly thank SINTEF for their warm hospitality.

As we move closer to the project’s conclusion, stay tuned to our website and social media channels on LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky. We will have plenty of exciting results, insights, and final events to share with you in the coming months!
