As Europe accelerates its transition towards sustainable energy and electrification, the importance of battery manufacturing technologies is becoming increasingly apparent and strategic. Against this backdrop, BATMACHINE aims to bolster Europe’s sustainable industrial battery cell manufacturing sector. Specifically, it aims to do so by developing optimised machinery featuring intelligent control processes that minimise costs, waste and energy consumption.
To promote knowledge sharing and open discussion on this topic, the BATMACHINE Team is organising a dedicated workshop on battery slurry production titled “BATMACHINEries for flexible and intelligent battery slurry production“.
The workshop will be held online on February 26th, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:45 CET.
Why is this workshop important?
Slurry mixing is a critical stage of battery manufacturing. In fact, it directly impacts quality, performance, reproducibility and scalability of electrodes. Moreover, homogeneity, rheology and stability of battery slurries impact subsequent processes, such as coating, drying and calendering. Ultimately, it also affects the lifetime and efficiency of the final battery cell.
BATMACHINE is developing an advanced mixing concept with the aim of increasing process robustness, while reducing energy consumption and production costs throughout the European battery value chain.
Below, the Agenda of the workshop:
Who should attend?
The workshop is designed for a broad yet specific audience, including:
- Battery manufacturers and process engineers
- Researchers and PhD students working on battery materials and processing
- Equipment and technology providers in mixing, coating, or electrode manufacturing
- R&D engineers from industry and applied research institutes
- Stakeholders interested in battery manufacturing innovation
Why should you attend?
Participants will gain insights into the latest slurry mixing strategies, as well as learn about key process–structure–property relationships. Most importantly, the workshop will showcase how BATMACHINE innovations can be applied in industry. The workshop also provides a valuable opportunity to share ideas with experts and peers from across Europe.
Slurry production plays an important role in both battery production and the BATMACHINE project. One of the project’s key developments is a new, modular slurry mixer, developed by partner NETZSCH-Gerätebau GmbH. This workshop reflects BATMACHINE’s research activities, sharing project findings, design considerations and lessons learned during the development and testing of advanced slurry mixing solutions.
Who are the speakers?
The workshop brings together experts actively involved in BATMACHINE and battery processing research. Specifically, Dr Felipe Wolff-Fabris, Branch Office Manager, and André Nogowski, Senior Engineer, are both based at the European Center for Dispersion Technologies (EZD). EZD is the branch of SKZ specialised in Dispersion Technology. They have extensive experience of mixing technologies and industrial-scale applications within the BATMACHINE system.
Additional BATMACHINE researchers and partners will present perspectives from materials science, process engineering, and equipment development, highlighting both academic and industrial viewpoints. Their combined expertise ensures a well-rounded and practice-oriented discussion of slurry mixing challenges and solutions.
Engage with Experts
The workshop is designed to be interactive. As well as technical presentations, participants will be actively involved in a dedicated ‘Virtual Coffee Round‘.
This informal discussion slot allows attendees to exchange ideas, ask practical questions and discuss challenges directly with speakers and fellow participants, encouraging open dialogue.
